Privacy policy

This is a courtesy translation. The German version is the legally binding one.

1. Overview

This explains what happens to your personal data when you visit this website. The controller is the website operator; contact details are in the legal notice.

2. Hosting

This website is hosted by Netlify (Netlify, Inc., San Francisco, CA, USA), based on our legitimate interest in secure, efficient delivery (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Where data is transferred to the USA, transfers rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 44 ff. GDPR). More: netlify.com/privacy.

3. Server log files

The host automatically collects standard log data: browser, operating system, referrer and time of request. It is not attributable to individuals and is not combined with other sources. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

4. Web analytics (without cookies)

This website uses the cookieless analytics service Plausible Analytics. It sets no cookies and stores no personal data that could identify individual visitors. Only aggregate, anonymous usage data is collected, for example pages viewed, referrer, approximate country-level region and browser or device type. IP addresses are not stored or shared, the data is never combined with other sources, and it is never used to identify individuals. Processing takes place on servers within the EU. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in statistical analysis to improve what we offer (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Because no cookies are set and no personal data is processed, no consent is required.

Language redirect (functional)

The site has two fixed language versions, at /en/ and /de/. If you open the site root without a language, our host Netlify determines the country of your IP address server-side (Germany, Austria and Switzerland lead to German, otherwise English) and redirects you once to the matching version. The IP address is not stored, no cookie is set and nothing is written to your device. You can change language at any time with the EN/DE switch. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a user-friendly presentation (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

5. Contact form

If you send the contact form, your details are stored so we can deal with your enquiry, and are processed via Netlify Forms (Netlify, Inc.). Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR.

6. Fonts

This website loads the typefaces Instrument Sans and IBM Plex Mono from Google Fonts (Google Ireland Limited), which transmits your IP address to Google. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in consistent presentation (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We are reviewing self-hosting the fonts so that this transfer is no longer needed.

7. Your rights

You may ask for information about, correction of or deletion of your data at any time, and you may lodge a complaint with the competent authority: Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht (BayLDA), Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, Germany.
